Hidden Gems of Bali: 10 Places Beyond Kuta and Ubud

Most first Bali trips run on the same rails: Kuta, Seminyak, Ubud, a Nusa Penida day trip. All of it is worth doing once. But if you have been before — or you simply want quiet — the island opens up the moment you drive two hours in any direction.

Ten places, and how far they really are

PlaceRegionBest forDrive from south Bali

JatiluwihCentral-westQuiet rice-terrace walksapprox. 2 hrs
Pasir PutihEastA quiet beach dayapprox. 2 hrs

Desk tip: Bali's distances are deceptive — 60 km can take two hours. Build any of these in as an overnight rather than a day trip, and your holiday stops being a car journey.

What we would actually book

  • Two nights Sidemen for the valley, rice fields and Agung views
  • Two nights Munduk or Amed depending on whether you want waterfalls or reefs
  • Three or four nights south — Seminyak, Uluwatu or Canggu — to end on the beach
East Bali: terraces, volcano and almost no one else.

Season check

April to October is the dry season and the easiest time to drive these routes. January and February bring heavy afternoon rain — the waterfalls are spectacular, the mountain roads less friendly.

6 nights in Bali: the route we actually sell

Everything above is the long list. This is the short one — the six-night shape we book most often, because it splits the trip cleanly: four nights on the beach side for the water, the temples and the day trips, then two nights in a private Ubud pool villa where nothing is scheduled at all.

DayWhereWhat happens
Day 1Nusa Dua / BenoaArrive, transfer in, beach evening — nothing else booked
Day 2Tanjung BenoaBanana boat, parasailing and jet ski, then Tanah Barak canyon and Pandawa Beach
Day 3DenpasarBajra Sandhi monument, Puputan Square, Bali Museum — half day, pool afternoon
Day 4Bedugul → TabananUlun Danu Beratan on the lake, Leke Leke waterfall, Tanah Lot at sunset
Day 5Kintamani → UbudMount Batur viewpoint, Taman Dedary, the Bali Desa swing, Ubud market, then into the villa
Day 6UbudLeisure. The pool, a spa, or the Campuhan ridge walk if you feel like moving
Day 7DenpasarBreakfast and the airport transfer

Desk tip: Why the villa goes at the end and not the start: after four days of 8 a.m. pickups, a private pool is worth far more than it is on day one, when you are still jet-lagged and itching to see things.

  • Stays: 4 nights at the 4-star Royal Regantris (Superior Room) + 2 nights at Bumi Linggah, Ubud (1-bedroom private pool villa)
  • Included: daily breakfast, all airport and inter-hotel transfers, the water-sports round and every tour above
  • Built for 2 adults sharing 1 room; we re-price it for families and groups
  • Blackout: 15 December 2026 to 07 January 2027 — the trip cannot run that window at this rate
